National Careers Week 2024 4th – 9th March | [email protected]
WorldSkills UK is an independent charity and a partnership between employers, education and governments. Together, we are using international best practice to raise standards in apprenticeships and technical education so more young people and employers succeed.
We’re a proud member of WorldSkills, a global movement of over 80 countries. WorldSkills supports young people across the world via competitions-based training, assessment and benchmarking, with members’ national teams ultimately testing their ability to achieve world-class standards in the biennial ‘skills olympics’. The insights we gain from training as part of this global network helps us raise standards across the UK.
This National Careers Week, use our free high quality Spotlight on Careers videos to inspire learners about technical education and apprenticeship pathways and careers in a variety of sectors including engineering, digital, creative, accounting and hospitality.
Each session is divided into four short segments covering an industry overview with experts outline key skills and myth busting, hearing from apprentice role models about their roles and inspiration, a short industry task that links careers to the curriculum and STEM where possible, wrapping up with the technical pathways in to the industry.
The 30-40-minute videos help students on the first steps in careers planning and educators to provide engaging careers advice to meet Gatsby Benchmarks 2, 4, 5 and 7.
We work with industry leaders in their fields to bring you high-quality content which will excite your students and which is free to access.
As climate change and environmental concerns top the social, political and youth agenda, we focused on green jobs in the fourth of our series of Spotlight Talks. The government’s ambition to create 2 million jobs in the green economy by 2030 is an exciting opportunity for young people to develop skills which will help accelerate the UK towards net-zero.
Sessions are broken down into 30-minute slots and contain live Q&As, videos and expert career advice. Examples of the topics explored include:
